What Does the Media Apostolate Entail?

The priests and brothers of the Society of St. Paul utilize the modern means of the media to tell the story of Jesus to the world. The press, radio, television, the internet, audio-visual productions etc. reach out to people in the market place and invite them to deepen their love for Christ and to learn about the truths of his Church.

While combating error and defending truth, Pauline brothers and priests carry out the apostolate with a spirit of love and implement the highest professional standards in all they do. Following the lead of the Pope, they carry on their work within the context of a Church concerned with holiness, justice and a respect for the other religions of the world as outlined in Vatican II.

A Respect for Freedom, plus Rigorous Professional Ethics

"Paulines are to observe a rigorous professional code of ethics in the carrying out of their particular apostolate (media ministry). They are to respect the freedom of readers, viewers and listeners, to steer clear of undue forms of pressure and the manipulation of truth. Theirs is to be a fraternal and impartial service, a service that repulses the temptation to tranform these formidable media into instruments of power." Constitutions of the Society of St. Paul, art 75.
