What Is Entailed in the Training,
of a Pauline Priest or Brother
and How Long Does It Take?

•  The postulancy lasts for a minimum of one year for brotherhood or priesthood candidates. It consists of in house classes, working in various media departments and learning about the Pauline spirituality and community life.
•  The novitiate is one year. It deepens the candidates understanding of the constitutions, spirituality and media charism of the Society.
•  Temporary vows are renewed on an annual bases for six years.
•  Priesthood candidates need to complete a BA in liberal arts (strong philosophy background recommended) and four years of theology. Brotherhood candidates study communications and theology in order to understand the faith and communicate it professionally in various aspects of the apostolate.

•  The vows of poverty, chastity, obedience and fidelity to the pope are stressed at all stages of formation. Whether a person is admitted to perpetual vows or ordination depends on his ability to live these evangelical counsels in a mature and healthy fashion.
•  The spirituality of the congregation revolves around daily participation in the Eucharist, an hour Eucharistic visit, personal prayer and meditation.
•  For a priesthood candidate who enters with no college education, it will take a minimum of ten years to complete the training. For a brotherhood candidate who enters it will take a minimum of eight years to complete the training.
